When I walked past a man in a parking lot I could not help but remark aloud to him about his enormous SMILE. A dreary day after a day of lots of rain. Greyish. Cloudy. Cold again. Exhausted. Didn’t feel well in the night. Missing loved ones. Some hard emotional stuff. Stressed over an icky work project.
The man and I spoke briefly in passing, and honestly I could not even hear clearly what he said other than that he mentioned the Lord just as I did. And I believe I heard the word BLESSED. No sooner than we both walked on in separate directions than I realized I had been moping.
While the man’s massive smile seemed filled with light and joy, I was walking around feeling down. Moping. Which can be easy to do when life is hard, the weather is yucky, and life is not going our way. Oh, but God does not want us moping! He wants us rejoicing! How can we rejoice when everything in our lives seems to point to moping?
Turn, turn to the Lord Jesus Christ. Turn our focus to Him. Turn our hearts to the Bible. Turn our hearts to God’s love and goodness. Turn our hearts to our blessings. And praise, praise, praise the Lord! And rejoice! Oh, rejoice in the Lord! AMEN!
“Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!” Philippians 4:4 NKJV
“Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him For the help of His countenance.” Psalms 42:5 NKJV
