Refusing to Forgive?

Please do not refuse to forgive the person or people you need to forgive. The one or ones you have been refusing to forgive. The person or people you say you’re not ready to forgive. Or whom you believe don’t deserve your forgiveness. For Christ’s sake, forgive. Without further delay. Oh, please forgive, friend!

Please forgive. For this reason. Forgiveness is commanded by God. It is mandated by Him. Refusing to forgive is disobedience. It is rebellion against God. Not only is refusing to forgive sin against God, but God tells us He won’t forgive us when we refuse to forgive others.

Did you know Jesus tells us He will hand us off to the “tormentors” if we do not forgive FROM THE HEART? Now whether you and I will endure physical consequences and suffering due to our refusal to forgive, I cannot say. Or whether we will endure mental torment in our refusal to forgive, I cannot say either. God decides the consequences of our refusal to forgive. But I can say this. We must forgive! Oh, please forgive!

Feel like you can’t forgive? God gives us all we need to live in obedience to Him.

“According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:” (2 Peter 1:3)

You don’t need to FEEL like forgiving to forgive. I was taught years ago we need to simply DECIDE to forgive. Ask God to give you the love and forgiveness to forgive. And give your feelings over to Him. Cast them all upon Him! Pour your heart out to Him! Cry out to Him to enable you to forgive!

“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”
1 Peter 5:7

“Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.” Psalms 62:8

If there is anyone, absolutely anyone, you hold anything against, please forgive them. Don’t delay! Obey!

If you knew what some people have done to me over the years, I promise you many would tell me there is no way I could have forgiven them or even should have forgiven them. I forgave in obedience to Jesus, and He enabled me to do so. I ended up not just forgiving them, but I even ended up loving them. Not in my human weakness. But in God’s strength! Through the Spirit of Christ who lives in His followers living inside me and empowering me!

Please be encouraged in reading the verses below!

“And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.” Mark 11:25-26

“”Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.” Luke 6:37

“Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy.” Matthew 5:7

“Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.” Luke 6:36

“Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants. And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents. But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt. But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest. And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt. So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done. Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee? And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him. So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.” Matthew 18:21-35
