The world around us may be loving less and less just as the Bible makes clear would happen one day as the world darkens with debauchery and all manner of ungodliness as so many people worldwide have their backs turned against God almighty, but should this mean that you and I love less also?
Should the degree to which we love be based on how much love we see in others and how much they do or don’t love us? Should our love be contingent on the world’s love or lack thereof? Should it be in direct proportion to how loving people are to us or how unloving they may be? Should we slacken up as far as love is concerned because the world right now is doing such a poor job of it as we see more and more darkness and evil and less and less godliness and love, care, compassion, goodness, and kindness? Should we disregard God’s greatest commands to love Him with all our hearts and to love others as ourselves?
No, no, no, absolutely not!
Let us have a love revolution. Let us make a love resolution. Let us be resolved to obey God’s commands to love Him and to love others no matter what this world does or doesn’t do in the way of love. Let us be resolved to love and forgive people because God commands us to do so. Let us be known for love, kindness, care, compassion, and goodness in the name of Jesus no matter how others choose to be and what others choose to do. Let us not fall short in loving because others fall short in love.
Let us turn from our sins, believe in Jesus Christ as Lord, in His death and resurrection, be forgiven and filled with God’s Holy Spirit, be promised forever life with God, be empowered and led by the Holy Spirit each and every day, and be filled with God’s love continually. May we shine as bright lights, as “children of light”, as “vessels for honor”, as carriers and givers of God’s love, as God’s people resolved to love unconditionally and to share the love of the Lord Jesus Christ with people far and wide. May this world see Jesus’ love in and through us no matter what others do when it comes to love. And when we fall short in love and loving as we all are imperfect, may we quickly repent and return to the Lord and return to loving, loving, loving, returning, yes, to LOVE.
Oh, for the glory of Christ, let us LOVE, LOVE, LOVE with the love of the Lord, AMEN!
“Jesus said to him, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”” Matthew 22:37-40
“Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” Romans 5:5
“For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.” Ephesians 5:8
“But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.” 2 Timothy 2:20-21
