Which One Are You Like?

All human beings are sinners who can only spend forever in heaven with the Lord instead of eternity in hell and the lake of fire in torment through faith in and a life devoted to the Lord Jesus Christ, and the key to forever in heaven with the Lord and to living the fulness of the life God has planned for us here on this earth is having the humility to realize, accept, acknowledge, and act upon the truth that we are NOTHING apart from Jesus.

The two men in the Bible story below are strikingly different in that they are both sinners as all humans are BUT have a totally different attitude, manner, and approach toward God than one another. God honors not the person who considers himself righteous and puts on appearances and pretends he has it all together and puts his trust in himself and looks down haughtily at the rest of the world. God honors the person who humbles himself, puts his trust in God, and cries out to Him for mercy and all else he needs.

Please read the following Bible story and ask yourself which of these two men are you like? Are there any changes you need to make, friend?

“Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’ And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”” Luke 18:9-14
