Taking Blessings for Granted

The parents of my brother’s childhood friend were both deaf, and a relative of mine was born with numerous significant disabilities including what would ultimately be defined as “legally blind.” As a child, I wasn’t thankful for my hearing. I wasn’t thankful for my eyesight. There was very little for which I was thankful. I took almost everything for granted.

Little changed in my early adult years. I didn’t see blessings as blessings, I didn’t believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and even when I came to believe in Him, I still took most everything for granted. Then, no pun intended, the Lord opened my eyes and transformed me. Today, I am thankful to the Lord for most everything. And when I forget to be thankful, the Lord reminds me. Be thankful!

Need the reminder? Please don’t take your blessings for granted. Be thankful!

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” James 1:17

“Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness,
And for His wonderful works to the children of men!” Psalm 107:8
