“Stay out of this please,” the Holy Spirit told me sternly. “You prayed. Now trust.”
I knew God’s sternness in chastening me came from His love. I knew He needed to be tough with me concerning this matter. And I cannot help but think probably a lot more people than just myself need to hear the message God gave me.
What was God telling me? In a nutshell, I had just prayed about something. But instead of trusting in God and waiting on Him to answer my prayers according to His perfect will in His perfect time, I jumped into the situation! I figured I better work things out myself. Without God. Clearly not trusting in Him. Trusting in myself instead.
I had no sense whatsoever God wanted me to get involved in the situation at least as of yet. I had no sense He had a role for me to play at least at that time. I had simply prayed and taken matters into my own hands to try to get things moving forward. As though I were in charge not God. As though I knew best not God. As though I could make things happen not the Lord Jesus Christ.
Now mind you I didn’t even recognize my lack of trust. I didn’t see how I was putting my trust in me not God. I needed to repent of my sin of not trusting God and put my trust in Him and seek and fulfill His will for me going forward.
When we pray, God may have a role for us to play in the situation or not. He will let us know. He will lead and guide us. We simply need to humble ourselves before Him and follow His lead whatever that looks like.
When we pray, we need to PUT OUR TRUST IN THE LORD and do what He tells us to do and NOT do what He does not want us to do. We need to NOT take matters into our own hands. We need to place the situations we pray about in HIS HANDS.
If we find we are praying but not trusting in God, we need to repent and put our trust where it belongs. Not in self. In Jesus! Amen!
“My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD, Nor detest His correction; For whom the LORD loves He corrects, Just as a father the son in whom he delights.” Proverbs 3:11-12 NKJV
“Thus says the LORD: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man And makes flesh his strength, Whose heart departs from the LORD. For he shall be like a shrub in the desert, And shall not see when good comes, But shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, In a salt land which is not inhabited. “Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, And whose hope is the LORD. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.” Jeremiah 17:5-8 NKJV
“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the LORD our God.” Psalms 20:7 NKJV
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV
