When was the last time you stopped everything you were doing and enthusiastically, joyfully, jubilantly, sincerely, and emphatically exclaimed, “Thank you God!”? Has it been too long? Have you never really done this, not consistently anyway? Have you never done this at all? Have you been thanking God but more as an obligation than with great enthusiasm? Or only when you are at church? Are you thanking God enough?
Oh, but we truly could never thank the Lord enough for who He is, what He has done, is doing, and will do, for His goodness, greatness, and magnificence, for His love and spiritual and physical blessings, for the sun, moon, sky, sea, and animals, for family and friends, above all else for Himself, God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit and the Bible, and on and on.
While we could never thank Him enough, at the very least we could be diligent in thanking Him continually and on a regular basis. And perhaps some of us, like myself, could thank Him much more!
Oh, how good many of us are at praying to God and crying out to Him for what we need and want, for others, for anything and everything in the world, and about matters and for people and nations around the world.
Oh, surely we should continue on in this as the Holy Spirit leads us to pray according to His will. But let us not stop at crying out to God, “please God” this and “please God” that. Let us be people of strong faith, love, joy, – and praise and thanksgiving! Ever expressing our thankfulness to God almighty, most assuredly, YES!
“Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits:” Psalms 103:1-2 NKJV
“”Now therefore, our God, We thank You And praise Your glorious name.” 1 Chronicles 29:13 NKJV
“Make a joyful shout to the LORD, all you lands! Serve the LORD with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. Know that the LORD, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.” Psalms 100:1-5 NKJV
