When the Devil Digs Up Your Past

0

The devil in his despicable three-fold mission to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10) seems to have an endless array of tactics to try to mess up people’s lives, and one such tactic is to try to get followers of the Lord Jesus Christ to get our focus off of God and the Bible and His will for our lives and onto the sin and darkness in our pasts.

Why would the devil want us to do this? Probably to try to distract us from God, to try to damage our relationship with God, to try to steal the love, peace, hope, freedom, and joy we have found in the Lord, and to try to stop us from fulfilling God’s purpose for our lives.

Friend, if you have turned from your sins, believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and in His death and resurrection, and have genuinely turned and committed yourself to God and His ways, you are born again spiritually, God has forgiven you and given you a forever relationship with Himself, and the Holy Spirit has come to live in you!

When you are born again spiritually, you have been saved from God’s wrath and condemnation and the punishment of forever in hell and the lake of fire which is the end result of sin when we don’t repent and turn to Jesus Christ as Lord!

When you turn your life over to the Lord and go forth living for Him, you are delivered from darkness and freed from the bondage of sin and condemnation!

What should we who believe in and follow the Lord Jesus Christ do when we find ourselves getting down, discouraged, feeling ashamed and disheartened, feeling condemnation etc. as we meditate on our wrongdoing from the past?

I encourage you to do this:

  • Pray to God!
  • Thank God for forgiving you and saving you and giving you everlasting life!
  • Read and meditate on God and the Bible not on the sins of your past for which God forgave you!
  • Go FORWARD humbly, joyfully, and faithfully following Jesus and fulfilling God’s will for your life!
  • Praise and worship the Lord!

Hallelujah! AMEN!

*** Please note if you currently have sin in your life you have not turned away from, it is crucial you repent now and turn back to God and His ways! It is so very important we receive the freedom God has given us and walk in it! ***

Here are some Bible verses to encourage you!

“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” John 10:10 NKJV

“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” Romans 8:1 NKJV

“ If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9 NKJV

“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.” 1 Peter 2:9-10 NKJV
