One of my favorite things as a child might be a far cry from other children’s favorites, but it was never far from my heart. Notebooks. Blank notebooks. I was a writer right from the very start. I am surprised I didn’t tumble out of my mother’s womb with a blank notebook in hand. See, I just couldn’t get enough of blank notebooks to fill. One of my favorite times of year was just before school started because I could go through the zillions of special school savings at the local store to pick new ones, but that didn’t discount the blank notebooks I got during the year.
Not everybody loves blank notebooks like I do, but I believe we all have our blank notebooks in life. What are they then? They are the blank canvases of our lives, the blank spaces that can, and should, be filled with the gifts the Lord has given us. Whether He created us to be artists, writers, mothers, doctors, whatever, we each are born with potential and possibilities when it comes to how we choose to live our lives and what we choose to do with them. Our very lives are blank notebooks, aren’t they? How will we fill them then? Since we are all born as sinners, we mess up our notebooks with wrongdoing and wickedness. But when we repent and believe that Jesus died to pay the price for our sins, and we believe in Him as Lord, we are given new notebooks so to speak. A clean slate. A fresh start. We then pick up the Bible and learn to live according to the ways of the Lord.
What are you doing with your blank notebook? How are you filling it? Do you need a clean slate? A fresh start? Repent, believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ, become a committed follower of His, open your new blank notebook, and get started on the life the Lord created you to live!
