The Great Reward
“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrews 11:6
“After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.” Genesis 15:1
“The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power:…” Rev. 4:10-11
God rewards those who diligently seek Him. Why do the 24 elders in the book of Revelation cast their crowns before God’s throne when crowns are a reward from God? Do you know what God told Abraham about his GREAT REWARD? How are these seemingly unrelated verses from as far apart as the first and last books in the Bible related?
We humans think of rewards in terms of prizes, trophies, and awards. We think of rewards as tangible, touchable, blessings we can see and hold. We think of God as the great giver of blessings, and we pray for them, we yearn for them, and we try to accumulate them. God is most assuredly the provider of all blessings, but we are missing THE GREAT REWARD when we focus our hearts and lives on seeking God for physical rewards and blessings. We are missing HIM! For He Himself is THE GREAT REWARD of those who diligently seek Him. Nothing God can possibly give us compares with the reward of having a forever relationship with Him by repenting and believing in and following Christ as Lord!
What did He tell Abraham? He told Abraham HE was Abraham’s reward! Why do the elders cast their crowns? I believe it’s because none of the blessings, treasures, and rewards we receive from God – not even heavenly crowns – come close to knowing and loving and fellowshipping with God Creator of the universe for all of eternity!
For whom is the Lord’s reward? For those who diligently seek Him. Not for those who spend their lives diligently seeking His blessings and physical rewards. But for those who go to any lengths to SEEK HIM – by sitting at His feet, studying His Word, living by it, seeking His face, praying, listening, hearing Him, obeying, and loving, worshiping, serving and glorifying Him forever. THE GREAT REWARD? The Lord!
Seek THE GREAT REWARD! Seek the Lord! Seek Him diligently!
