The Woman Outside My Door

0

I was having so much trouble focusing. So often do these days. I had so much work to do. But so distracted. Bouncing around from one thing to another. Couldn’t sit still. That’s when I saw the woman outside my door. At my latest hotel on the road for Jesus. Now please understand before you proceed with this message. It’s not about me and what I did. I don’t even want to tell you. But I am compelled to do so because I have an important message to share with you in so doing. Not about the woman. Nor me. But about Jesus and this world.

I opened my hotel room door. There stood the woman. Visibly cold. Quiet. Still. She barely moved. Strange. With my noisy door, I would have thought she would be startled and move out of the way. Somewhere. Anywhere. But she stood right there which in retrospect I believe was because the Lord had sent her right by my door. I tried to speak to her. No English. Barely anyway. But I could see she was in need. No idea if she was staying at the hotel. Or why she was there. She seemed to be waiting for a ride somewhere. But God knew she needed more than the ride.

I used my hands and tried with my words to ask her if she needed something to make her warm. She answered quickly. Most people are too proud. She was quiet and humble. Yes, yes. To make a long story short, within about 15 minutes, I had the great privilege of giving her a big super warm wonderful beautiful pullover I had gotten for myself at a thrift shop I had really wanted for myself. I had worn it only once or twice. It was clearly not for me. It was for her.

I got her a cup of coffee, some snacks, some tissues as she seemed on the verge of tears or perhaps just so cold. She seemed sad. Oh, and yes, most important of all. I pointed upward to the Lord. And said “Jesus” the way Spanish speaking people do. She seemed to believe in Him. I prayed for her. With tears, I prayed. For this beautiful quiet woman God had sent to my door. By the end of our brief time together, she stood elsewhere waiting for her ride with her warm pullover, coffee, snacks, tissues, LOVE, and PRAYED FOR.

And I went back to my room and felt ready to cry for this whole world filled with so much suffering and need. Need of Jesus. And need of people who will stop everything they’re doing and humble ourselves before God almighty, and turn from our sins and believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and in His death and resurrection, truly turning to God and His ways, receiving God’s forgiveness and the promise of forever life with Him, being indwelt by His Holy Spirit. Willing and desirous and committed to living henceforth for the Lord according to His ways.

Loving and serving Him with all our hearts and ever being ready to share the Gospel message, to love with the love of Jesus, to serve in His name, to give, sacrifice, share, pray for, encourage, help, support, to obey God in anything and everything to which He calls us day by day. Including in the way of proclaiming His name and sharing His love with a world in dire need of Him.

I ask only one thing as you finish reading this message. Please don’t put me on a pedestal for my heart for Jesus and ministry and people and special needs dogs and such, please don’t look at me and exalt me in any way for I am nothing and nobody without Jesus, but please become and remain a totally devoted follower of the Lord Jesus Christ and go out into this world and love and serve Him and others with every ounce of your heart, AMEN!

“When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.” Matthew 25:31-46 KJV
