Think You’re An Exception?

“The fool has said in his heart,

“There is no God.”

They are corrupt,

They have done abominable works,

There is none who does good.

The Lord looks down from heaven upon the children of men,

To see if there are any who understand, who seek God.

They have all turned aside,

They have together become corrupt;

There is none who does good,

No, not one.” Psalm 14:1-3

“But we are all like an unclean thing,

And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags;

We all fade as a leaf,

And our iniquities, like the wind,

Have taken us away.” Isaiah 64:6

“As it is written:

“There is none righteous, no, not one;

There is none who understands;

There is none who seeks after God.

They have all turned aside;

They have together become unprofitable;

There is none who does good, no, not one.”” Romans 3:10-12

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,” Romans 3:23….

If you think you’re an exception, you’re not. You may be an exception in some things. I may be an exception in some things. We’re all likely exceptions in one thing or another. In other words, each of us in life may be an exception to one rule or another, to one thing or another, to whatever. But when it comes to this, absolutely NO HUMAN BEING ON THIS EARTH, not you, not me, not anyone at all, not anyone from the past, present, or future, has EVER BEEN, OR IS, or EVER WILL BE an exception to this.

We are ALL born into a sinful world, we are ALL sinners against God, we ALL are under the curse placed on sinners of death and endless torment in hell and the lake of fire forever apart from God, NONE of us can have a relationship with God based on our own merit or deeds because He is holy and we as sinners can’t be in His presence, NONE of us is good enough for God, and NONE of us can ever under any circumstances no matter how hard we try or what we do or don’t do earn God’s love, mercy, grace, forgiveness, and the promise of a forever relationship with Him. Is there any exception? In all seriousness, aren’t some of us just good people, haven’t some of us done enough good works along the way, can’t some of us if we try hard enough measure up to God? No! Not ever!

This may seem like the worst news in the world, but in fact it’s anything but. For God loves you and me so much and so wants us to have a relationship with Him now on earth and forever in heaven that He sent His Son Jesus to the cross to bear our sins and our punishment of God’s wrath and the curse described above on Himself so ANY of us who confess and turn away from our sins and believe Jesus is the Son of God and Lord and died on the cross and was raised from the dead, genuinely committing our lives to Christ, sincerely turning to God and His ways, and away from the world’s ways, is given a forever relationship with God. So what seems like the worst news in the world that NONE of us can ever earn God’s love and salvation, that NONE of us is an exception, turns out to be amazingly good news WHEN WE HUMBLY AGREE AND ADMIT we are sinners and turn to and believe in and receive Christ as our forever LORD and our eternal Savior.

The BEST NEWS IN THE UNIVERSE, the Gospel message, that we can spend forever with the Lord when we give our lives to Christ, begins by accepting and admitting the worst news in the universe that we are totally hopeless and headed for the lake of fire forever without the amazing love and awesome grace of God almighty in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Just where do you stand? Have you TRULY received Christ as Lord and Savior, and does your everyday life show forth that you now fully belong to Him? You are not an exception. Me neither. The only way to everlasting life with God is through Christ.
