When I reflected on the big sin I had fallen into, I realized how “sexy” it had seemed at the time. Now let me be clear. First, my sin had NOTHING to do with men, relationships, sexual relations, etc. The word “sexy” can be defined as “appealing”. Second, what I fell into was actually GOOD and GODLY not ungodly and unrighteous. It simply wasn’t God’s will for MY life even though it seems to be God’s will for many other people’s lives. Bottom line? The sin was super tempting, appealing, tantalizing, alluring, and exciting. Of course, behind the sin, lurking in the shadows, was Satan dangling the “sexy” sin in front of me. And there is absolutely NOTHING “sexy” about the consequences of sin!
There is all sorts of sin, but there is only one who stands behind it all. Satan who is on an all out mission to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). And no matter how “sexy” he tries to make sin seem, SIN IS WRONG, DANGEROUS, AND DEADLY AND MUST BE GOTTEN RID OF. Sin is awful and terrible and comes with horrible consequences. Sin hurts God, sin hurts others, and sin hurts ourselves. Sin comes with short-term consequences, long-term consequences, and eternal consequences. Nothing “sexy” about any of this!
No matter how “sexy” sin seems, there is only one right way to handle it. In the strength of God, for the glory of God, we need to say NO if we haven’t yet fallen into it and repent and turn to the Lord if we already have.
Don’t be fooled by sin seeming “sexy”, friend. ALL SIN must go! We need to turn away from it ALL! For Christ’s sake, AMEN!
“But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” James 1:14-15 KJV
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.” 1 Peter 5:8-9 KJV
