Time to Call It Quits?

Sometimes we reach a point in our lives in which our circumstances and thoughts and feelings in response to them are such that we wonder if it’s time to call it quits with something or someone. Ever felt this way? Feeling that way right now?

Could be a job, career, responsibility, commitment, church, counselor, house, education, friendship, sport, hobby, business, interest, anything or anyone at all.

We may feel exhausted, weary, worn out, burned out, frustrated, impatient, discouraged, down, depressed, anxious, stuck, like we’re not getting anywhere and probably never will, like everything is falling apart, like we just can’t take it anymore, like surely there are better opportunities and options, etc.

I have experienced this countless times over the years, handled it poorly for years, and am now at long last handling these seasons of my life correctly. Friend, herein is my encouragement to you.

Put your trust in the Lord. Turn to God almighty. Cry out to Him. Pour your heart out to Him. Pray to Him. Seek Him. Wait on Him. Hear Him. Obey Him.

Do not allow your circumstances, thoughts, feelings, other people’s opinions, fears, the devil, anything or anyone at all cause you to make a decision about whether or not to call it quits.

Make your decision based on God, the Bible, His will, and His ways. Yield yourself to the Lord and follow Him.

No matter His will, whether He desires you to carry on or to call it quits, seek and trust Him to provide all you need to obey Him.

Pray for wisdom, trust the Lord to give it to you, wait for Him to do so, and love, serve, obey, and glorify God with all your heart! Amen!

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” James 1:5-8 NKJV
