Blessing #28

“O Lord of hosts,
Blessed is the man who trusts in You!” Psalm 84:12

I am on the road full-time for Jesus and am blessed to do streets ministry work continually – literally on the streets as well as by telephone and Internet. In other words, I am constantly meeting people. And I have yet to meet a single person who has perfect trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. Oh sure, some of us do a better job trusting God than others.

But the bottom line is we’re all works in progress, aren’t we? And we all could go deeper in our trusting the Lord, don’t you think? I know I sure could! And I know from meeting countless people that many, many of us have what we call “trust issues” whereby we have difficulty trusting God because of times in our lives when our trust in a loved one was badly broken. Isn’t it something what this scripture says?

What happens to those who trust in the Lord? Those who trust in the Lord are BLESSED. It’s a BLESSING to trust in the Lord! Amazing, isn’t it? Those of us who struggle with trusting God, and who could do a much better job of it, need to realize the broken trust we’ve experienced in our lives regarding people should not be confused with our relationship with the Lord.

In other words, we should not hold back our trust from God because of how people have broken our trust. We are blessed when we trust in Jesus, and trust is exactly what we should do. In Jesus. Day by day. And moment by moment. Learning to trust Him. Choosing to trust Him. Being blessed when we trust Him. Being thankful that we can trust Him. Being thankful for how He blesses us when we put our trust in Him.

Oh, bless the Lord! Blessed are we, my God, when we trust in you. Help us to trust in you, Father, more and more. Help us to place our trust in you, sweet God! AMEN!
