Today’s THE CROSS DEVOTIONAL

0

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

One of the greatest tragedies I come across on a regular basis when it comes to speaking with people who profess to believe in Jesus Christ as Lord is how many of them do not profess to have a deeply personal, deeply intimate, deeply loving, deeply rewarding, deeply ever-growing, deeply wonderful, deeply fulfilling, deeply life-changing relationship with the Lord.

The only way to have a relationship with the Lord in the first place is to turn from our sins and to turn to God and His ways through faith in Jesus Christ as Lord who died to pay our sin penalty and was raised from the dead. But that’s just the starting place! Not the end! The beginning!

Think of the person you love the most on this earth. What if you had just met that person once and walked away never to experience and enjoy relationship with that person again? Oh, what an indescribable loss that would be! What a tragedy!

But is that not exactly what some of us have done with the Lord? We have received Christ as Lord, may even regularly fulfill what we consider to be our religious duties, but don’t pour our hearts and souls and time and attention and devotion into building that relationship day by day. There is no greater person in the universe with whom we should desire to enjoy a relationship than with Christ. And He loves us so unfathomably much He died on the cross and was raised from the dead so we can have forever relationship with Him!

If you look carefully at your day to day life, is Jesus #1? Is your relationship with Him more important than any other? Do you make Him your highest priority? And can you sincerely say you are experiencing and enjoying intimacy with the Lord?

I wish to encourage you to passionately pursue the Lord and the Bible now and forever – and to spend time with Him and the Bible daily developing an everlasting immeasurably wonderfully intimate relationship with Christ who is Lord forevermore!
