“So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.” Romans 8:8
Isn’t it true when we love someone to no end, that we want to express our love to that person? And to please that person in an expression of our great love for the person? Should this not be true most of all when it comes to loving Jesus?
In the Bible we find out how to please the Lord, and we also find out how not to please the Lord. The scripture above shows us God isn’t pleased when we live in the flesh. He doesn’t want us to live to love and please self according to the world’s ungodly ways. His Spirit lives inside His followers, and He wants us to live led by His Spirit according to His Word for His glory. This is what brings God great joy and delight and pleasure! Not to live according to our flesh, but instead according to His Spirit!
Intimacy with Jesus all begins with turning from our sins, turning away from self, believing He is Lord and died on the cross to pay our sin penalty and was raised from the dead, and lovingly humbly turning to Him and His ways. And day to day beautiful personal intimate relationship with the Lord is something we experience and enjoy and that grows increasingly when we live our lives in obedience to Christ. When we live our lives to please the Lord. When we live our lives led by Him!
