Ever felt too tired, too overwhelmed, too worn out, too exhausted, too wiped out, too burned out to love someone especially when loving that person isn’t easy in the first place due to their behavior, responses, extreme needs, attitudes, lack of thankfulness, meanness, lack of love, lack of giving in return, struggles, and/or how he or she may be treating you? Or maybe felt too tired because of other things going on in your life whereby you just feel too tuckered out to muster up the energy and ability and resolve to love that person given the state of your own life? Or maybe too tired because the person the Lord is calling you to love is creating a lot of challenges in your life which has simply depleted you? Regardless of the reasons, ever felt like you simply don’t have the strength to love that person the Lord is calling you to love, give to, care for, show compassion toward, be kind to, sacrifice for, etc.?
Friend, tired is no excuse not to love. The Lord’s greatest commands are to love Him with all our hearts and to love others as ourselves, and I have yet to see one instance in the Bible in which the Lord tells us we don’t have to love because we’re tired, worn, and weary when it comes to loving that person or people. The Lord’s command to love others is contingent not on us, not on them, not on this world, but on Him! And the Lord who calls us to love when we turn to Him and choose to obey Him will give His followers all we need to love others – including love, mercy, grace, hope, strength, compassion, comfort, encouragement, power, wisdom, endurance, rest, refreshing, peace, and perseverance.
Feeling worn and weary concerning someone the Lord has called you to love? Turn to the Lord! Pray to the Lord! Read the Bible! Seek the Lord! Cry out to the Lord! Seek prayer and encouragement from others if and as He so leads you! Be filled with His Holy Spirit! Be led by His Holy Spirit! Praise the Lord! Worship the Lord! Spend time in His presence! Sing to the Lord! Honor the Lord! Obey the Lord! Humble yourself before the Lord! Be filled with His love! Rest in the Lord! Trust in the Lord! Believe in the Lord! Purge your heart, mouth, and life of anything ungodly and unloving! And love, love, love the Lord with all your heart – and others as yourself. Including the one you feel too tired to love. In the strength of Christ, for the glory of Christ, LOVE, LOVE, and LOVE! Amen!
May your love for the Lord and others abound! May you be filled with and pour out the love of the Lord Jesus Christ, AMEN!
“We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity [love]of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;” 2 Thessalonians 1:3
