One of the books I have been blessed to write is called Totally Devoted. God has impressed upon me over the past few years that this is how He has called His children to be. Totally devoted – to HIM! Sadly, tragically in fact, so much of modern day so-called Christianity and churches in America are filled with outright false teaching as I was under or watered-down, sugar-coated teaching through which people are taught to be lukewarm believers in Jesus. I fell hard for this also for a long time. All of this I found to be self-focused not God-focused. Most importantly it did not line up correctly with the Bible.
Praise God, He led me to repentance, swept me off my feet, drew me away with Him into an about 7-year “wilderness” period of much solitude and time alone with Him, and began by His Holy Spirit to teach me the Bible and how to be a totally devoted follower of the Lord Jesus Christ!
Friend, it’s hard, really, really hard on the flesh to deny self of its wishes, ways, and wants when they don’t line up with God’s ways and will for our lives. But we must pay the price. We must die to self and live for Him. I am more thankful to God than imaginable for not leaving me as yet another casualty of false teaching or of sugar-coated, watered-down teaching. I am so thankful to Him for teaching me daily how to deny myself, take up my cross, and to humbly, faithfully, lovingly, reverently, and devotedly follow His blessed Holy Spirit as He leads me forth!
Are you totally devoted to the Lord Jesus Christ? Please may it be so, friend, and please be thankful to God for the wonderfulness despite the cost of self-denial of being wholly and forever His!
“And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.” Luke 9:23-24 KJV
“And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.” 2 Corinthians 5:15 KJV
