Vengeance Time?

Is it time for vengeance? It may be, but vengeance does not belong to us. Vengeance belongs to God. So what then is our job when it comes to those who hurt us? Shouldn’t we respond to evil with more of it? Evil is not overcome with evil. We are called to overcome evil with good. But how? Isn’t that impossible? In the human flesh, yes. But through Christ all things are possible. The next time evil comes your way, leave the vengeance to God. Instead, do good. In the strength of the Lord.

“Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing. 10 For “Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit; 11 let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it.” 1 Peter 3: 9-11 ESV

“Beloved,never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” 20 To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” Romans 12:19-21 ESV

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13 NKJV
