“Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!” Psalm 37:8 NKJV

“O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.” Psalm 34:8 KJV

The Bible is packed with verses about TRUST. About where we need to place our trust.  The reality is we all place our trust moment by moment in something or someone, whether it be the Lord, ourselves, others, false gods, false religions, material things, ideas, beliefs, anyone or anything at all. We choose where or in whom or in what to put our trust. We need to consciously and deliberately learn to choose to put our trust in the Lord Jesus Christ moment by moment, step by step, breath by breath. We need to trust God with our hearts and lives not as a one-time act of trust, but as our very lifestyle. As our way of life. A way of life of trusting the Lord. But the truth is that many of us spend much, if not most, if not all of our lives placing our trust not in Christ, but in someone including ourselves or something else. Eternal life, an everlasting relationship with God, a relationship now and forever with God, is not for those who trust in Christ as a one-time act, but who trust in Christ as Lord. We repent of our sins, believe Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins and was raised from the dead by God, and we turn our lives over to Him. Moment by moment. Step by step. Breath by breath. We become God’s blessed children. We become Christ’s blessed servants. Christ is our Lord, and we live and breathe for Him, and we learn to trust Him with everything pertaining to the lives He has so graciously given us.

According to Strong’s concordance, the word “trust” in the scripture above comes from the Hebrew word with the following definition: “חָסָה châçâh, khaw-saw’; a primitive root; (compare H982) to flee for protection; figuratively, to confide in:—have hope, make refuge, (put) trust.” God wants us to flee to Him for protection, for us to find refuge in Him, to place our hope in Him, to confide in Him, and to PUT our trust in Him. Note the word “PUT.” It denotes this is something we must DO. It is a conscious decision. The word “trust” above in the KJV version is written as “trusteth”. According to multiple resources online, “eth” signifies the English word was translated from the Greek present tense which signifies that trust needs to be ongoing. Continual. We are blessed when we place our trust continually in the Lord. We are also blessed when His Spirit shows us we have placed our trust elsewhere and leads us to repentance so we know we must return our trust to Him. Just as quickly as we place our trust in Him, we can remove it and place it elsewhere, and just as quickly as He shows us we have done so, we need to return our trust to the Lord!
