What Are You Bowing Down to?

1
I know a person who struggles with a particular sin in which the person actually is in a kneeling position while engaging in that sin. How easy it would be to point the finger in judgment, which I did for many years mind you before the Lord grabbed a hold of me and led me to repentance, and condemn that person for sinning in such a way the person is literally bowing down to the sin. The sins with which you and I struggle may not result in our being physically bowed down while engaged in the sin, but what matters most really is the posture of our hearts, don’t you think?

Whatever form our sins may take, when we engage in sin we are bowing down to the devil and to the world and even to ourselves rather than to the Lord. Confessing Jesus as Lord is NOT enough. Our very hearts, and lives – our thoughts, feelings, and actions – need to bow down to the Lord. We are born again when we repent of our sins and believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but for the rest of our lives on earth we must go through the sanctification process where we continually learn to turn away from sin and bow our knees to our glorious God!

Php 2:9  Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
Php 2:10  That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
Php 2:11  And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Php 2:12  Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
