When It’s Hard to Love

0

Maybe you’re too tired to love. Or feel like someone is too difficult to love. Or perhaps someone you dearly love has just worn you out with all the broken promises and the running back to the addiction time and again so you just feel like enough is enough with the love. Or you can’t fathom loving those people over there given what they did to your loved ones. Or you’re picky and choosey when it comes to love. Or someone has broken your heart way too many times. Or why should you have to love those people you don’t even know.

Or you’re fed up with the person who keeps begging for money at the end of your street and you feel done with trying to love that person. Or your family seems way too messed up and has done too much damage to you in your opinion anyway for you to go another second loving.

For whatever reason, when you feel like it’s just too incredibly hard to love someone, or even seemingly totally impossible, what should you do? The answer is simple, challenging, and powerful, and entirely possible. And it can be summed up in one word.

LOVE.

The answer can be summed up with the word LOVE for one single reason.

GOD.

And no matter how hard or impossible it seems to LOVE someone or some people, there is ONE way you can be guaranteed to be able to LOVE.

JESUS.

It is all plain and simple. God’s greatest commands are to love Him with all our hearts and to love each other, and through the love, strength, power, grace, mercy, and goodness of the Lord Jesus Christ we can and should LOVE.

Please understand. There may be times God calls us to walk away from someone, to end a relationship, to say goodbye to a friend, for a season, or even permanently. Whether we remain in someone’s life or not should be determined by God. But regardless whether He leads us to stay or go or make any changes, the answer when it comes to love is always the same.

LOVE.

If you’re having a hard time loving, please cry out to God! Pray with all your heart! Spend time in God’s presence praising and worshiping and seeking Him! Read the Bible! One awesome Bible study is to look up the word LOVE and study it! And study anything else God leads you to study in the Bible day by day. And ask Jesus followers for love, help, support, and prayer if you’re struggling to LOVE if / as / when the Lord leads you.

Most of all, trust God to enable you to love. And go ahead and do it. LOVE! For Christ’s sake, LOVE! Amen!

“Jesus said to him, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”” Matthew 22:37-40 NKJV

Please note in the Bible verse above God’s greatest command is to love HIM. Then comes loving others. And it all begins with GOD LOVING US!

“We love Him because He first loved us.” 1 John 4:19 NKJV
