Have you ever gone really far out of your way, made a big sacrifice, and had great hope and expectation in giving someone a gift? Hoping and expecting the person would super appreciate your love, kindness, and generosity – and give you a big THANK YOU? I know. We’re supposed to be so loving and giving that we don’t care about getting a Thank You. But if you’re honest with yourself, don’t you sometimes want to get some appreciation, or at the very least acknowledgement, of what you gave? If I’m honest, in my humanness, and my still needing to grow in humility and generosity, sometimes I still care about being thanked. And when I don’t get that Thank You, it can hurt some. In the past, it hurt lots. So here is my question.
If it hurts us humans to not be appreciated and thanked, and to not have our loving and giving acknowledged, how much do you suppose it must hurt the heart of God when He is the most loving person and the greatest Giver and the one who has made the greatest sacrifice in the universe? Think of all He has done, is doing, and will do for all of humanity INCLUDING YOURSELF, and imagine how He must feel when we take Him and His gifts and blessings for granted and don’t take the love, time, and care to THANK THE LORD on an ongoing basis! This message is convicting for me. Is it for you? Oh, friend, let us grow! Let us grow big in our THANKSGIVING TO GOD!
