Ever felt like the devil just won’t leave you alone? Well if you’re a totally devoted follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, no wonder. The devil probably is miserable when he sees Jesus followers praising the Lord to no end, loving and serving God with all their hearts, going all out to tell the world about Jesus, living by strong faith in God, enjoying a forever intimate relationship with God, and looking forward to forever in heaven with God while the devil will spend eternity in hell and the lake of fire in everlasting torment.
And the devil in his mission to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10) would likely love nothing more than to wreak havoc on Jesus followers’ relationships with God and to go all out trying to stop us from fulfilling God’s will for our lives and from helping people to find and follow the Lord.
Oh, sure, thank God, the devil can’t take away the promise of eternity God gives His people. The devil can’t end the relationship God’s people have with God. But the devil can work exceedingly hard to distract God’s followers from God and from being totally devoted to Him and from seeking and fulfilling God’s personal calling for each of us.
Let me tell you, I speak from experience. The Bible speaks of the devil prowling around like a roaring lion looking for whom he can gobble up (1 Peter 5:8). I have sensed the devil fighting me to no end on and off for years specifically trying to stop me from going forward in my ministry work for Jesus.
By God’s grace and the power of His Holy Spirit I have written many books for God, and I will never forget writing my first book. I heard the voice of the devil coming extraordinarily hard against my mind as he proceeded to tell me if I wrote that book he would kill me and mutilate my body into little pieces. I guess he wanted to terrify me into quitting writing that book not to mention to use the gift of writing God has given me in the future.
My response to the devil’s horrific attack? I did exactly what this message is all about. Glory be to the Lord, praise the Lord, oh yes, I kept on following the Lord! I wrote and published that book and many others since not to mention done lots of other writing including my Good News Daily Devotional online. And I have gone right on doing my evangelism work. And ministered to people and done as best I can whatever the Lord has placed before me to do for Him.
Oh, sure, it has been indescribably hard at times to keep following the Lord and striving to fulfill His calling for my life, but He has given me everything I have needed to press on! Hallelujah!
I kept doing what God had called me to do. And I didn’t just stop with writing that book. I have done my best ever since to seek and fulfill the will of God for my life most importantly loving, honor, fearing, adoring, praising, honoring, serving, obeying, worshiping, and glorifying God with all my heart and telling the world about Him.
In the Bible, we learn of different ways to deal with the devil’s attacks. We can put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:11-20), submit ourselves to God and resist the devil (James 4:7), resist the devil through faith in God (1 Peter 5:9), take every thought captive (2 Cor. 10:5), etc. Most importantly, we should cry out to God in prayer and follow any directions He gives us in each of our battles. But there is one thing that stands out to me regarding when the devil won’t leave us alone above all else.
KEEP FOLLOWING JESUS WITH ALL YOUR HEART AND DON’T LET THE DEVIL STOP YOU FROM DOING WHAT GOD HAS CALLED YOU TO DO! Starting with loving, serving, worshiping, and glorifying God with every ounce of your heart, AMEN!
