Where Have Love & Kindness Gone?

Seems love and kindness are less and less present in today’s world. It’s no surprise really. Countless people worldwide are living in rebellion against the Lord God almighty, refusing to repent, rejecting Jesus Christ as Lord, and worshiping false gods. Others profess to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ but are living with their backs turned on Him and pay no regard to Him whatever. Still others believe in Him but are lukewarm, lackadaisical, and halfhearted in their faith in and devotion to Him. God’s greatest commands are to love Him with all our hearts and to love others as ourselves. If we’re not wholly surrendered to Jesus Christ as Lord, this world right now is what we get.

But friend, do not lose heart! We can’t stop others from hatred, unkindness,  meanness, cruelty, neglect, abuse, violence, darkness, ungodliness, etc. But we ourselves can surrender ourselves utterly to the Lord and His ways as He teaches us in the Bible and choose love and kindness, mercy and goodness, generosity and compassion, mercy and service, grace and forgiveness, peace and joy, hope and sacrifice, humbly and lovingly laying down our lives for others.

Instead of pointing the finger at this ever darkening world and spiraling downward in disgust, discouragement, disheartenment, and depression, instead of bad-mouthing others, judging and condemning those who are doing wrong, we can look to the Lord and to His Word and choose the way of love and kindness. And when we ourselves fall short, which we will from time to time in our humanness, we can quickly repent and return to the Lord and His ways. The way of love and kindness, of mercy and goodness, the way of Christ, oh yes!

Oh, God, help us to love! Help us to be kind! Help us to not be influenced by this dark, dark world. Help us to shine with your light! With your love! Help us to stand out as different than this evil world! Help us to repent when we need to repent! Teach us your ways, oh God! Teach us to love, oh yes! Help us to be kind and merciful. To be giving and generous! Help us to forgive! Help those of us who believe in and follow you to be your humble vessels that you may pour your Spirit through us, your goodness through us. Cause us to be totally surrendered to you, oh Lord, that we may pour out love and kindness onto this world in your name not for our glory but all for yours, oh Lord. AMEN!

“For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!” 2 Timothy 3:2-5

“For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved.” Matthew 24:5-13

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”” John 13:34-35
