Why I Despise Pride

0

I despise pride and so should you! I am not referring to other people’s pride though I certainly find it distasteful, offensive, and unpleasant as perhaps you do as well. I despise MY OWN PRIDE when it crops up and so should you when it crops up in you. Perhaps you wonder. Why should we despise our pride? And what should we do when it arises in us? When it takes up residence in our hearts, when it comes bursting forth from our mouths, and when it appears in our actions, how should we handle it?

We should despise our pride when it rears its sickeningly ugly head because it is ABHORRENT, ABOMINABLE, AND DESPICABLE IN THE EYES OF GOD ALMIGHTY! It is sin against the Lord! We should despise what He despises! We should detest what He detests!

When we recognize even one ounce of pride in ourselves, we should rid ourselves of it – IMMEDIATELY! We should humble ourselves – NOW!

Do not be fooled! Do not be deceived! Pride comes in many, many forms. Pride is pride no matter the form it takes. It is ALL sin against God!

Some years ago, I BEGGED God to show me every time pride arises in me and to lead me to immediate repentance! He has done so ever since.

As my heavenly Father’s daughter and servant, I long to love, please, and honor the Lord! The answer when it comes to pride and pleasing God is this. TO HUMBLE MYSELF CONTINUALLY! This doesn’t just go for me. This goes for us all. Humility is critical in the life of a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. PRIDE BE GONE! We must be vigilant in humbling ourselves before the Lord!

Father, please do in each reader what you do in me. Show them whenever pride arises, and lead them swiftly to repentance. Remind them to humble themselves – continually. Cause them to despise pride like you do. And as you have caused me to do. Help us all to be free from it day by day and forevermore. Fill us with the desire to humble ourselves continually before you and TO MAGNIFY AND EXALT YOU INSTEAD! Oh, thank you, Lord, for answering my heart’s cry in this. AMEN!
“For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”” Luke 14:11

“Everyone proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD;…” Proverbs 16:5

“For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.” 1 John 2:16-17
