Will You Love God Anyway?

Will you love God anyway even when He doesn’t answer your prayers the way you want? Will you love God anyway even when life is tough? Will you love God anyway even when your dreams don’t come true? Will you love God anyway even when you lose someone you love or your beloved dogs you had for years? Will you love God anyway even in your battles, your trials, and your tribulations? Will you love God anyway even when you feel down and discouraged? Will you love God anyway even when your life isn’t going the way you so desperately desire?

Friend, our love for God shouldn’t be contingent on our life’s circumstances, on the world around us, on the details of our lives, on our thoughts and feelings, on getting what we want or losing what or whom we love, etc. Yet if we’re honest with ourselves, isn’t it true that sometimes we hold back our love for, praise of, worship of, and devotion to God when our lives aren’t the way we want them to be?

The Holy Spirit is bringing conviction to me even as I write this message He laid upon my heart to write and share with you. I am feeling down as I write this, I have had decades of sometimes seemingly relentless struggles, and I find sometimes my love for God – and my expression of my love for Him – ebbs and flows, waxes and wanes, rises and falls, according to the tide of my life’s story and how I think and feel. This is wrong, and I confess this to you and to the Lord even as I write this.

Our love for God, which is His greatest command, and our devotion to Him, our praise and worship of Him, none of this should be contingent on anything other than the gloriousness and magnificence and wondrousness and greatness and sovereignty and never-failing love of God almighty! God commands us to love Him with ALL our hearts, minds, souls, and strength, and that being the case, there should be no times we hold back our love for the Lord.

God is worthy of our love, praise, honor, adoration, singing, worship, service, obedience, and devotion 24-7 and forevermore no matter what. Because Jesus Christ is Lord of Lords, King of Kings, Savior of the world – forevermore, AMEN!

Please will you join me in resolving and persevering in loving God with ALL OUR HEARTS day in and day out – and forevermore, AMEN!

Oh, Lord, you are so good, so great, so wonderful, so marvelous, so incredible, so awesome, so amazing, and I am so sorry, and ask your forgiveness for me, and for us all, for not showing you our love regularly, consistently, continually, passionately, fervently, no matter what. Please God help us, love us, heal us, comfort us, strengthen us, give us all we need dear Father to get through the trials of this life. We need you, oh Lord, oh yes we do. And I ask for your help, dear Lord, that each and every one of us, your blessed children, would love you with every ounce of our hearts 24-7 now and forevermore. Not just as a, “I love you God!” but that we would express our love to you in all sorts of ways, in our thoughts, in our feelings, in our mouths, and in our actions. I am sorry I have to even ask for this, oh Lord. I wish we all did everything perfectly in the way of loving and obeying you, but truth is Lord we don’t. And we need you to do what is right. So please help us with this, oh Lord, and I thank you for answering this cry of my heart. Oh, God, help us to love you, now, tomorrow, and for eternity, oh Lord, AMEN!

I have a habit of rushing, and I even do this with the Bible. So if I’m not careful, I can miss vitally important words not to mention the understanding and application the Lord wants to show me by His Holy Spirit. Please note in this well known verse the word “all”. And please note the words “heart”, “soul”, “strength”, and “mind”. This leaves nothing out when it comes to loving God! Oh, let us love Him truly, zealously, ongoingly, and forevermore, AMEN!

“And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.” Luke 10:27 KJV
