You Can’t Earn Eternity

Everlasting life is real. It really exists. But one day this world will not. It will be gone. We will have a new heavens and a new earth, and we will not live on this earth any longer. We will live forever, however. We will not merely be buried in the earth or tossed as ashes into the sea, on a mountaintop, or wherever we desire our bodily remains to go. We will live forever with the Lord in His new heavens and earth, what we ordinarily call heaven, or we will live in forever torment in hell and the lake of fire apart from God with no second chances, no turning back, no changing of the mind. And eternity with God instead of indescribable suffering in the lake of fire forever separated from God is NOT for those who earn it.

We can’t earn eternity with the Lord! He gives it to us. Jesus Christ, who is Lord, died on the cross to pay our sin punishment and was raised from the dead to overcome death. When we turn from our sins, believe in Him as Lord, in His death and resurrection, in everything He has done, is doing, and will do, in His words, in the Bible, in His way of living, in living for Him and not for us, in the Christ way of life, and truly turn to God and His ways, fully devoted to Him, we are forgiven our sins and promised forever with Him.

This is NOT an earning. We are incapable of doing anything that will ever be enough to earn the love, grace, mercy, hope, salvation, joy, fellowship, and other precious promises of God. All of our “goodness”, all of our “good deeds”, this is nothing but “filthy rags [menstrual rags]” in the sight of God. Salvation and eternal life are received by God’s grace through faith in Christ as Lord by those who turn from their sins and turn to Christ as LORD and SAVIOR. We don’t earn but receive the greatest gift that ever was, is, and will be. The gift of the Lord Himself, of forever fellowship with Him, and of His perfect will for our lives now and forever.

No amount of good works can earn God’s love, forgiveness, and a forever relationship with Him. Good works are a result of and an expression of receiving from God His love, forgiveness, and eternal life.

Have you turned from your sins, do you believe in Him as Lord and in His death and resurrection, and have you entrusted your life to Christ and His ways? Now is the time! Now, now, now is the time! Before it’s too late! For one day in fact it will be too late! Now is the time! Devote your life to the Lord, forever and ever, AMEN!

Lord, save every reader who is not yet saved. Please, oh Lord. Lead them to repentance and to salvation from you. Teach them and grow them in your ways. May your will be done in their lives. For those already saved reading this, who are already born again, who have already received you as Lord and Savior, strengthen their love for you, their faith in you, their commitment to you, and use us all to spread the Gospel message far and wide. To you be the glory, oh Lord, to you be the glory, AMEN!

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:8-10

“This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works.” Titus 3:8
