Your Love Life

God calls us to a life of LOVE. Loving Him with ALL our hearts and loving others as ourselves. His greatest commands. He gave me a wonderful reminder about loving others one day when I was talking to my paralyzed ministry doggy Miss Mercy.

Call me crazy because I talk to my dogs. That’s okay. I spend lots of time on my own doing my ministry work and do much praying to the Lord when I’m not out and about talking to people about Jesus. I also chit chat away to my sweet and precious special needs ministry dogs who are on the road with me full-time for Jesus. Which is how I found myself saying to paralyzed dog Miss Mercy one day, “I know honey we have a lot to do today. By God’s grace we will do it, and we will do it WITH LOVE!”

I then went straight to my computer to type in the words because I knew I had a message to share. About how whatever we do each and every day we need to do WITH LOVE. With the love of Jesus. Which by God’s grace through Jesus we can do. Mind you, we also need to seek the Lord’s forgiveness and return to loving when we fall short.

Now I’m not referring to my beloved dogs needing to love as I was suggesting in my little “conversation” with Miss Mercy. I’m referring to you and me. And to all humans for that matter. Each and every day, friend, no matter what we face, no matter how we feel, no matter how people treat us, no matter what people do to us and say about us, no matter our circumstances, we are commanded by God to love Him with all our hearts and to love others as ourselves.

I love this verse because it is so ultra clear and the message is stated so simply. It really says it all, doesn’t it?

“Let all that you do be done with love.” 1 Cor. 16:14

So what if we don’t feel like loving someone or some people? Or feel too tired? Or feel they don’t deserve our love? Or can’t seem to muster up the ability to love them? Or feel we have better things to do with our time?

Friend, loving others is not to be based on our thoughts and feelings and circumstances. It’s to be based on the Lord Jesus Christ and His command to us to love others and His giving us the ability to love them through the very Spirit of Christ living inside those of us who believe in and follow Him.

How is your love life? Do you love the Lord with all your heart and does this show in how you think, speak, and act? How about when it comes to others? Are you loving others as yourself with the love of Jesus?

Obey God. Love. Each and every day. For the glory of Christ, AMEN!

“AND YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.’ This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:30-31
