“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” James 1:17……………..
“Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:” Psalm 103:1-2………………
I don’t know about you, but sometimes, maybe even often, sometimes too often, I become so driven, so determined to get everything done in a given day I believe I’m supposed to get done, and plunge so quickly into it after spending my personal alone time with the Lord, that I have a tendency to miss God’s blessings right in the midst of it all. Not only do I miss most importantly of all remembering to feel and experience and enjoy and honor God’s presence in each and every moment and to consciously purposefully commune with Him continually throughout the day, and need to be reminded sometimes to do just that, but I also am prone to missing His physical blessings. From the greatest to the smallest, from the sweetest to the most powerful, to the most obvious to the least obvious, to the most tangible to the least tangible, and on and on. But the more I follow Jesus, the more I dig into God’s Word and spend time with Him, the more I fall in love with Him, the more I consciously and determinedly live to love and honor Him, to serve and obey Him, to praise and worship Him, to enjoy Him, yes, to enjoy Him, to be thankful as I have such a very long way in learning to do, the more I learn of Him and from Him, from Christ Jesus my Lord and beloved, the more my heart, ears, and eyes are open to His blessings – even the ones that last for mere moments.
Some of the most precious blessings the Lord bestows upon us and graces us with may last for mere moments you know. But how precious and joyful they are because they are offerings from the Lord, tangible manifestations of His love for us, and evidences of His amazing creativity and beauty and sovereignty, and HIS BLESSINGS SHOULD NOT BE MISSED. The Lord placed this message on my heart one bright sunny freezing cold near spring morning when I was writing away at my computer and turned briefly for some reason I can’t recall. That’s when I saw it.
Such a precious, sweet, and tender blessing. My beloved paralyzed dogs Mr. Simeon and Miss Mercy cuddled up together so lovingly, so peacefully, just watching me from behind I suppose, and enjoying the quiet of a blessed Saturday morning. A morning blessed by the Lord. Created by the Lord. All of it. All beautiful blessings are the Lord’s; they come from Him, and should we not thank Him for them? And even when we don’t stop to verbally thank Him necessarily, though that, too, we should do when led, should not our hearts be filled with praise and thanksgiving? And should we not throughout each and every day with which the Lord blesses us take the time, love, and care, and yes, the thanksgiving and praise, to notice the blessings He continually pours out on His Creation and with which He ever blesses His children, Christ’s blessed followers? Oh, praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Thank you, Lord! For your endless blessings! Most of all, for the greatest blessing of all, Lord, for you! Praise you Lord!
