I flopped down on my stomach on my hotel bed for a few minutes rest smack dab in the daytime which I so rarely do, grabbed my little Bible, realized I wouldn’t see much in the dimly lit room, and found to my surprise a few “random” words in a “random” verse my eyes “randomly” fell upon seemed brightly illuminated on the page and in my heart despite the poor lighting. I believe the Holy Spirit brought them to light and compelled me to write this message to share with you now. I have read the Bible for years but don’t recall ever seeing those words before! But the Lord saw fit for me to see them!
“…have peace one with another.”
The verse reminds me of another one.
“If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men (Romans 12:18).”
And another one.
“Let him eschew [avoid]evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it (1 Peter 3:11).”
And another. “Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.” Matthew 5:9
Peace, peace, peace! As much as possible, we are to be peaceful with others. We are to be at peace with them.
Friend, we are not responsible for what others do and say and and how they treat us and others. We are responsible for ourselves. In the eyes of the Lord, are we seeking to be at peace with others?
Are you?
May it be so!
Father, Father, forgive me, forgive me, oh Lord, for years and years of doing anything but this! For being angry, mean, nasty, yucky, icky, impatient, for losing my temper, for being prideful and arrogant, for any and every time I did not seek to be at peace with others, that I didn’t love and forgive and show mercy at your leading, for any time I have not yet repented though I have tried to repent any and every time I needed to. Oh Lord, have mercy upon me. And have mercy upon every reader who has failed to be at peace with others! For falling short in any and every way. Help us all to be at peace as much as possible, oh Lord! Oh, yes! AMEN! Thank you for answering this prayer, oh Lord! Even as I write this, Father, I feel excited to go forward for the rest of my life on this earth with a new attitude. With a strong desire, oh Lord, to strive to be at peace with others. Lead me and all of us to do so, oh Father, AMEN!
