Don’t Miss Your Opportunities

“By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:35 ESV

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Mt. 5:16

Everywhere I turn it seems someone is hurting, suffering, troubled, challenged, crying, grieving, sick, dying, depressed, discouraged, facing hurdles, obstacles, trials beyond measure, tribulations beyond description, abuse, etc.

God has given me a special radar of extreme sensitivity that picks up when someone needs love, encouragement, help, support, a hug, a prayer, to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ, a friend, etc. But I don’t think this is the only reason I am seeing so much of this these days. I think it’s because of the times in which we live. The Bible makes clear these times were coming, and that the world will draw to a close as Jesus prepares for His return, and that things will get infinitely worse and darker until He brings His glorious forever reign and those who repent and follow Him will spend forever with God while those who reject Him will spend forever apart from God in hell and the lake of fire.

I can’t think of a more important time in history than now to keep our eyes, ears, and hearts open to those in need. Please don’t miss your opportunities in your everyday life. Don’t be too busy, distracted, preoccupied, hurried, consumed with your own life, etc., to notice the people with whom you cross paths every day. Whether it’s a stranger, a loved one, a co-worker, a classmate, a cleaning person, a taxi cab driver, a fellow inmate, a homeless shelter worker, whoever, wherever, whenever, someone you run into may well be in dire need of Christ’s love and the Gospel message.

Please take the love, time, and care to extend His love, peace, grace, joy, hope, Truth, and mercy to the world. Be a light for Him in this ever darkening world. Don’t miss your opportunities. More than anything, this world needs the light of Christ.
