Give God Your Ouch!

Okay, maybe I am the only one in the world who has ever prayed a prayer like this one. But quite honestly I have always been off-the-beaten-track. So no surprise when at the end of a not-so-great day I got down on my knees and in the midst of a very short prayer told God, “Ouch.”

Yes, that is right. I said “Ouch” to God because my heart hurt. Sorrow. Sadness. And exhaustion. Deep, hard stuff. The kind it can be hard to describe in precise words. But God does not need exact words. He desires honesty. Truth. Total surrender. Total devotion. That we come to Him and seek and find Him. That we are loved by Him and love Him in return. That we enjoy a deep intimate relationship with Him.

I believe I made an exchange in that moment. I gave God my “Ouch”. In exchange I received His tender loving comfort, kindness, mercy, and grace. And I went on with my evening. My “Ouch” cast upon the Lord. My heart soothed by His love.

Please, friend, pour out your heart to the Lord Jesus Christ. Give Him all of you. Be totally devoted to Him. And when you find there is an “Ouch” in your heart, or whatever it is that weighs you down, that aches, that hurts and is in need of mending, when you need love and comfort, a heavenly hug and the knowing that someone in this universe understands you and what you are going through, come before the Lord and exchange your “Ouch” for His loving grace.

“Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us…” Psalms 62:8 NKJV
