God’s Stepping Stones

0

I think of stepping stones as little stones people step upon as part of the pathway to get to their ultimate destination. We may think they’re not important, but they’re actually very important because they are necessary for us to get from our starting place to the place we intend to go.

Stepping stones aid along the way. Each stepping stone has a significance and a place and purpose in the journey and should not be thought of us as meaningless. We should be thankful for all the stepping stones along the route to get to our destination. This is not true merely when it comes to physically walking down a pathway. This is also the case when it comes to walking with God down the pathway of righteousness He sets before us.

Sometimes God sets before us people, places, and/or things He may not intend for us to have for the rest of our lives or even long-term but instead to have for just seasons in our lives as we follow Him day by day on our life’s journey with Him.

I want to encourage you to consider two things in regard to your stepping stones.

First, we should not try to hold on to people, places, and things when God makes clear it is time to move on down the pathway of life. When we are clear God has let us know that a season is over, we should humble ourselves and obey Him. We should be thankful for the time He gave us in those places and with those people doing what He gave us to do there, but we shouldn’t hold on. We should let go and move on.

Second, we should not minimize the importance and significance and purpose God has for us concernging the people, places, and things He places in different seasons of our lives even if those seasons seem so very short. Just because they may have been stepping stones on our way to wherever God is leading us on, we should still value each and every stepping stone along the way.

Let us value and be thankful for all and everyone God places in our lives and for all He leads us through and for each and every stepping stone along the way through the seasons of our lives as His Holy Spirit leads us down the pathway of life! Amen!
