GOOD NEWS DAILY – NOVEMBER 18

TODAY’S LITTLE LETTER FROM LARA

Dear friend,……..

Need encouragement? I woke up early Sunday morning, too early, after a not so great night’s sleep, after several pretty hard weeks, after a bunch of years of much challenge. Oh, how I needed encouragement! But it was too early to call anyone! I knew immediately I had a message for you, yes, for you…….

Friend, one of the AMAZINGLY AWESOME BLESSINGS when our hearts and lives are committed to the Lord Jesus Christ is we can do what David did in the Old Testament. WE CAN ENCOURAGE OURSELVES IN THE LORD.

As wonderful and important as it is to have Christ-follower friends, the most important relationship we will ever have is with Jesus. So how do we encourage ourselves in the Lord? WE CRY OUT TO HIM, WE POUR OUT OUR HEARTS TO HIM, WE PRAY TO HIM, WE SEEK HIM, WE PRAISE HIM, WE WORSHIP HIM, WE READ THE BIBLE, AND WE LISTEN FOR THE VOICE OF HIS SPIRIT SPEAKING TO OUR HEARTS DIRECTLY FROM THE BIBLE AND PERSONALLY TO OUR HEARTS IN LINE WITH THE BIBLE!

Need encouragement? May the Lord and the Bible be your number one source! There is no greater encourage-r than the Lord, and no greater encouragement than His!

“And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.” 1 Samuel 30:6 Authorized King James Bible

TODAY’S DAILY INSPIRATION

GET RID OF IT”So Samuel said:

“Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices,
As in obeying the voice of the Lord?
Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice,
And to heed than the fat of rams.
For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft,
And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.
Because you have rejected the word of the Lord,
He also has rejected you from being king.”” 1 Samuel 15:22-23

“I asked you to get rid of it,” the Spirit of God who inhabits His followers spoke to my heart. “You held onto something I asked you to let go.”

Ouch. Ugh. No matter how hard we may try to justify holding onto something we know the Lord has told us to let go, it is sin to hold on. We need to get rid of it. For the simple reason Jesus Christ is Lord and we need to obey the Lord in all things at all times.

You can read the verses above in their full context at https://biblehub.com/nkjv/1_samuel/15.htm. Saul tried to justify his wrongdoing. He paid a high price for his rebellion.

Got something to get rid of? Get rid of it.

TODAY’S 365 BLESSINGS

365 BLESSINGS is a devotional book I wrote that is available in print by contacting me at 843-338-2219 or via lara@GoodNews.love.

BLESSINGS 198-199

“that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love,” Ephesians 3:17

This verse may be some other person’s prayer for some other people, in this case the apostle Paul for the Ephesians, but oh how wonderful this verse is for us even all these many, many years later! Look at the duo of blessings here! First, that through faith in Christ as Lord, the Lord Jesus Christ – His very Spirit – LIVES INSIDE OF US! Wow! Utterly astonishingly amazing! Second blessing? That through faith in Christ as Lord, we are to be “rooted and grounded” not just in any love – but in the love of Jesus! And, because His Spirit lives in those of us who follow Him, we have that capability. To learn day by day to live through and in the love of the Lord! Two marvelous blessings borne of faith in Jesus! Two marvelous blessings borne of Christ in and through us! Thank you, Lord!

TODAY’S THE CROSS DEVOTIONAL

THE MOST PRECIOUS TIME OF DAY

“As the deer pants for the water brooks,
So pants my soul for You, O God.
My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
When shall I come and appear before God?” Psalm 42:1-2

“One thing I have desired of the Lord,
That will I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord
All the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the Lord,
And to inquire in His temple.” Psalm 27:4

Do you have a favorite time of day? I do. Early, early morning. Before the busyness, the distractions, the noise, the everything of the day begins. When it’s quiet. My beloved handicapped streets ministry doggies are either still sleeping or just waking up. No human noise. It’s still dark outside. No temptation to jump out of bed and do anything at all. I’m still waking up. Sort of sluggish. Cozy in my little bed with paralyzed Mr. Simeon snuggled up right by my side. Part of my Walmart cheap yummy cuddly blanket tossed on top of me. I’m sitting up in my usual not-good-for-my-posture position right by my mini folding table that goes on top of my bed. The one that holds my laptop. With my Bibles, colored pens, and highlighters right by my side.

And a deep hunger and thirst for Jesus. To spend time with Him. To be near Him and Him to me. To draw closer to Him. To learn of Him and from Him and become more like Him. To grow in Him. To seek the Lord and hear from Him. To learn how I might please Him in the given day. To spend time in the presence of God almighty.

And so another day begins – with the Lord. The Lord with whom because of His death on the cross and resurrection and because of my repentance, faith in Him, and commitment to Him and His ways I will spend forever.

Oh, the love of the Lord! The grace, glory, peace, hope, joy, comfort, compassion, kindness, promises, and endless wonder of God almighty! The most precious time of the day. Alone time with Jesus.

May the most precious time of the day for you be time alone with Jesus and the Bible. May He be your first love. May He be the highlight of your day. The highlight of your heart. The highlight of your forever.  May you be forever His, and He be forever yours. OH, may it be so!

TODAY’S SERVING JESUS IN YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE

GO TELL THE WORLD!“Hide Your face from my sins,
And blot out all my iniquities.

Create in me a clean heart, O God,
And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Do not cast me away from Your presence,
And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.

Restore to me the joy of Your salvation,
And uphold me by Your generous Spirit.
Then I will teach transgressors Your ways,
And sinners shall be converted to You.” Psalm 51:9-13

Notice what King David promises the Lord when he seeks His forgiveness for his sins. TO TEACH SINNERS THE LORD’S WAYS! So sinners too will turn to the Lord!

Friend, we have an amazing opportunity not to mention command from the Lord when it comes to believing in Him and His death and resurrection and turning to Him. We can – and should – serve the Lord by SHARING THE GOSPEL MESSAGE WITH OTHERS!

The Lord’s love, grace, forgiveness, and mercy are not to be hoarded to ourselves. We are to go out into this world day by day and tell others about Jesus and how to be saved from God’s wrath and the punishment of death, hell, and the lake of fire for our sins. We are to tell others we must all repent, turn from our wickedness and turn to Christ as Lord! And we are to love and serve the Lord and others by teaching God’s ways per the Bible to a world in need of turning to Him and living for Him!

The number one way to serve the Lord when it comes to others is to tell the world about Him! Oh, glory be to His beloved everlasting almighty name! Hallelujah!
