Grump. Grump grump grumps. Ugh. Argh. Irritability. Moodiness. Anger. Crankiness. Rage. Temper. Icky feeling. Resentment. Bitterness. Bad day. Yuck day. Yuckiness. Ever feel stuck in an uncomfortable place like this? Got the grumps? I sure did one day. I have many, many times in fact. I used to find it acceptable. But the more I follow Jesus, the more I love Jesus, the more I despise feeling and acting this way. Because those feelings and attitude and thoughts when I don’t deal with them quickly can lead me right into sin. That’s what I did that day. Big time. Lost my temper. Got down. Discouraged. Disheartened. More grumps. Right in the midst of it all, the Lord gave me a message. Go figure. He gave me a seven-fold solution. Thought I should share it with you. Got the grumps? Do any or all of this as the Spirit of God so leads you:
- PRAY, PRAY, PRAY
- PRAISE THE LORD & SING TO HIM
- PRACTICE THANKSGIVING
- MEDITATE ON THE BIBLE
- REACH OUT TO OTHERS FOR LOVE, PRAYER, & SUPPORT TO RECEIVE HELP IN GETTING FREE FROM THE GRUMPS TO BE AVAILABLE FOR JESUS & OTHERS
- SERVE THE LORD & SERVE OTHERS
See a common denominator in these? They are NOT about self. They are about THE LORD and OTHERS. Let’s get our minds off ourselves, friend. Let’s turn our hearts and eyes to the Lord and His Word and others.
Father, forgive us, oh forgive us when we have the grumps. Chasten us. Bring conviction. Lead us to repentance. And yes, forgive us Father in Jesus’ name! And please Lord lead us in what you placed on my heart. To love you, worship you, praise you, sing to you, thank you, meditate on your awesome Word, and to serve you and your Creation. All in your name, all for your glory. Get us out of the grumps, oh Father. THANK YOU! Amen!
“I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.” Psalm 104:33
