Just the other day, the words “highway to holiness” dropped right smack dab down into my huge heart. I beg your pardon? I might have inquired. But I held my tongue. Instead, I opened my heart and waited. Just as God often does in my life, He drops me a tidbit – and follows it up with a sumptuous meal. This is what came to me. Did you know God wants us to be holy? Now wait a minute, how can we be holy when He is holy? The Bible answers that question in a nutshell. “Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy (1 Peter 1:16 KJV).” It is not that we cannot be holy because God is holy; we are to be holy because He is holy. We are created in His image. Oh my, how is holiness possible for us? Just head on down the highway to holiness – with Bible in hand. Whereas God is holy, God wants us to become holy. How do we do that? The more time I spend in His presence, the more I study and apply His Word to my life, the more I learn to love and serve Him and His Creation, I walk further down the highway to holiness. Whereas God has already arrived at the destination of holiness, I am walking by faith to get there. One of the most wonderful gifts along my faith journey is to walk with fellow travelers. Won’t you join me on the highway to holiness?
