God doesn’t just have a perfect will. He has perfect timing for His perfect will. God is, after all, perfect. In every single way. Including with how He times absolutely everything. Trouble is for some of us prone to impatience, ahem, myself very much included, we can find ourselves thinking and even saying, “Hurry up, God!” Ever consider what is behind this mentality?
Impatience, of course. But what else? Pride! We think we know better than God! Horrible, horrible pride. And what else? Fear! Sometimes we are afraid of what will happen if things don’t happen in OUR time. Right away! Or very soon anyway! Anything else? Lack of trust! We are not trusting God! There may even be more than this if we’re honest with ourselves. As committed believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, we need to repent when the Lord shows us any and all sin in our hearts, words, and actions.
Imagine what our lives would look like if we would truly and fully trust the Lord, trust His will, and trust His timing. The next time you find yourself thinking God should hurry up or telling or begging Him to do so, try seeking His forgiveness instead and make the decision to trust Him – and His timing. For the sake of the Lord Jesus Christ – not to mention for everyone else’s and also for yours!
Father, please teach us to trust you and to wait on you. Show us your glory, oh Lord! Your will be done! Your timing be done! Please, please, please forgive us all for when we are impatient, oh Father! AMEN!
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering [patience in some versions], kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23
“But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31
