Are you ready for vacation? That’s not my question. Are you ready to send your kids off to college for the first time? That’s not my question. Are you ready to start that new job? That’s not my question. Are you ready for that dinner party your husband roped you into having for his staff? That’s not my question. Are you ready for fall? That’s not my question. So here it is. Are you ready for Jesus?
Seriously. The world seems more concerned with vacations, college, jobs, and dinner parties than it does with the coming of Jesus Christ. And this is what concerns me. When Jesus comes, do you think He will care about your next vacation, your kids’ colleges, your new job, or your next dinner party?
Or, do you think He will care about the condition of your heart, whether you truly have repented from your sins, whether you are worshiping the Lord God almighty and Him alone, whether you have let go of the stuff God told you to let go of, whether you are walking in the ways of the Lord, whether you are loving your neighbor, whether your actions line up with the Bible, and, most importantly of all, whether you have placed your faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior?
I don’t need to know the answer. But the Lord sees your heart, and He already knows the answer.
“The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.” Mark 1:15 NASB
