For those of us who have been badly hurt, we may not know how to love and be loved, we may be afraid to love and be loved because we don’t want to take the risk of being hurt again, or we may be too hurt, bitter, and broken to love and be loved. Whether for these reasons or any other, we may if we’re honest with ourselves realize we’re simply and sadly rooted and grounded in hurt, hatred, sorrow, depression, resentment, grief, anxiety, etc. But the Lord created us to be “rooted and grounded in love”!
How is this possible for those of us who have been deeply and dearly devastated by people’s abuse, neglect, rejection, betrayal, hatred, prejudice, unkindness, abandonment, etc.? Through the Lord Jesus Christ, we can do anything to which He calls us – including when it comes to LOVE! When we place our hearts and lives in God’s loving care, we can be comforted by Him, healed by Him, transformed by Him, empowered by Him, strengthened by Him, equipped and enabled by Him, and taught by Him including when it comes to loving and being loved! Rest assured, I am living proof! Despite decades of brokenness and ongoing struggles to this day, through Jesus, I have learned to love and be loved. I believe the same is possible for us all!
“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Philippians 4:13 KJV
“For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.” Ephesians 3:14-21 KJV
Oh, Lord, teach us all to love and be loved, my God, AMEN! Starting with receiving your love, oh Lord, next with returning your love, dear Father, then loving others with your love and receiving love from them as well! Oh, God, help us all with this, thank you Lord for answering the cry of my heart with this, AMEN!
