I am afraid many as I once did think of love as merely an emotion and that our lives should be “rooted and grounded” in our emotions whereby we should think, speak, and act according to how we feel. As though we should only love, praise, honor, adore, worship, serve, obey, and glorify God when we feel love toward Him. As though we should only demonstrate love toward others and love and serve them with the love of Jesus when we feel love for them. Truth is God’s greatest commands to love Him with all our hearts and to love others as ourselves are NOT contingent on how we feel.
Everything we think, say, and do should be “rooted and grounded” in Jesus and the love of Jesus, and we should have godly sorrow and repent when this is not so.
Loving and serving God and others should be at the very foundation of our life. As our very way of life, we should express love toward God and others in obedience to Him no matter our feelings.
May everything in our lives be a manifestation and expression of love for the glory of the Lord. No matter our emotions, let us choose to love for the glory of Jesus, oh yes!
Is following Jesus your way of life? Is love your way of life? Oh, may it be so!
Father, help us not live by our emotions. Help us live by – and for – YOU! Help us to love, dear Lord, each and every day, oh yes, AMEN!
“Let all your things be done with charity [LOVE in some Bible versions].” 1 Corinthians 16:14 KJV
“For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.” Ephesians 3:14-19 KJV
