“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1
“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.”’ Psalm 91:1-4
Sometimes the thing we’re most likely to do when we’re hurting really badly is to run away from the Lord in anger, bitterness, in thinking we need to protect ourselves from anyone getting close to us, to find comfort elsewhere, or for any other reason.
If you’re hurting, friend, please don’t run away from the Lord. Please run right to Him. Run into His refuge. Into His everlasting arms. Into His shelter. His hiding place. His secret place. His fortress. Come under the shadow of His wings. Pour out your hurting heart to Him. Come into His comfort. Receive His mercy. His compassion. His lovingkindness. Open His Word. Find peace and hope in the midst of it. Enjoy His gentleness. Receive His healing.
Run to the Lord, friend, run!
