Latest Little Letter from Lara

Dear friend,

It’s a new day! Sometimes when I’m in a season of struggle, of challenge, of some sort of difficulty, I wake up in the morning without my usual excitement at the prospect of a new day. Without a thankful heart. Without realizing how blessed I am to have a forever relationship with God through the Lord Jesus Christ, to have the Spirit of God living inside me as He lives inside His followers to love and lead and empower us in His will and ways, and to have the countless blessings including provision God gives me day by day.

Then the Lord reminds me to shift my focus. That instead of looking at my circumstances, and instead of living according to my feelings, I need to turn my heart and eyes to the Lord and to His Word and to His promises.

Do you need to change your focus right now? I do! Even as I write this, I am reminded that my day can turn out totally differently no matter my circumstances when I turn to the Lord and to His Word and surrender myself utterly to Him!

If you need to change your focus friend, to the Lord, please do!

With love from a servant and daughter of the Lord,

p.s. please remember my Good News Daily which you’re reading right now contains a bunch of blessings. Four devotionals, this little letter of encouragement, and a ministry update & prayer request. So please be sure to scroll all the way down!

Your Life from a Different View

One day a sister in Christ thanked me for helping her to see her life from a different perspective. It had not been my intention. I had simply thanked her for her generosity and made reference in my correspondence to how blessed she was that God had given her something in particular in her life. Apparently she had needed the encouragement to see what she had thought of as somewhat of a burden as a blessing!

When I received her thank you for helping her to see her life from a different view, and even now as I write this, I was convicted by the Spirit of God who lives inside His followers. How so? Sometimes I get so bogged down in the details and challenges of my everyday life that I lose sight of how very blessed I am. The challenges seem like mountains, and the blessings seem like they disappear or at the very least go into hiding. Frankly, my view is off. I’m looking at my challenges instead of looking to the Lord and all my countless blessings!

But when I look at my life from a different angle, from a different view, from a different vantage point, with a different perspective, I am in awe of how very blessed I am!

The Lord tells us throughout His Word we should be thankful, we should praise and worship Him, and we should be joyful. Some of us have life circumstances whereby our thanksgiving comes naturally. Others of us have trials whereby it may be hard to be thankful. When we turn our hearts and eyes to Jesus, no matter the details of our lives, oh, how we can be thankful! Oh, how we should be thankful! Yes!

There is no greater blessing in the universe than the Lord God almighty! And to turn from our sins, believe Jesus Christ is Lord and died on the cross to pay our sin penalty and was raised from the dead, truly turning our lives over to God and His ways, and being forgiven and given a forever relationship with God instead of spending forever apart from Him in torment in hell and the lake of fire.

There is no greater blessing than to be in the Lord’s forever fellowship. Even when our lives are hard, we can turn our focus to God and the Bible. We can look at our lives from a different view. From the viewpoint of belonging to Jesus forevermore!

And once we turn our focus to the Lord, then do our hearts and eyes behold the beauty and wonder and awesomeness of the Lord – our greatest blessing – and do we see once again the bountiful blessings He bestows upon us each and every day.

Is your focus on Jesus, friend? Do you see Him as your greatest blessing? Do you see all your other blessings? Do you praise the Lord for all your blessings?

Do you need to look at your life from a different view? If so, please do!

365 BLESSINGS is a devotional book the Lord has led me to publish piece by piece even as I’m writing it rather than waiting until it’s in print to share it. Please join me & be blessed as I write my latest book…!

Blessing #35

“And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.”” John 17:26

Can you fathom the love God almighty has for His Son the Lord Jesus Christ is the very same love we who believe in Jesus Christ as Lord have inside of us? And that it’s not just Father God’s love for Jesus that is in us, but that God almighty HIMSELF is living inside we who follow Jesus?

I don’t know about you, but just thinking about that for moments makes every single challenge and concern and worry and trouble and hurt in my life just fall to the wayside. There is no greater love than God’s love, and that very love is in us! Not just His love, as though that’s not in and of itself more than imaginable. But the Spirit of God lives in us! When we think of blessings, and things to be thankful for, we tend to think of what we can see with our eyes and hold in our hands, don’t we?

God’s love, and God Himself, they’re bigger and mightier and more beautiful and wonderful than we can ever hold with our hands and behold with our eyes on this earth. But one day, friend, you and I who follow Jesus, we will be face to face with God’s full everlasting glorious presence. What we have today in Christ is a foretaste of what one day will come.

Let us be thankful, oh, let us be thankful even now, even this very hour, that Jesus and His love are right inside us! Oh, praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Thank you Lord!

The Key to Intimacy with Christ

“From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”” Mt. 4:17

The key to an intimate relationship between two humans is love, isn’t it? There are other ingredients, of course, but love is fundamental. Love is fundamental to intimacy with the Lord, too, but there is a key without which it is impossible to develop a beautiful, wonderful, ever-growing relationship with God. That key is repentance.

We as humans are all sinners who are separated from God by our sins and thus can’t be in His forever glorious presence because of our sins and His holiness. We are hell-bound forever apart from God in everlasting torment and anguish and indescribable pain because of our sins.

But God LOVES (ingredient #1) us SO MUCH He sent His only Son Jesus to the cross to take upon Himself our sin punishment so all who REPENT (turn from our sins with true sorrow) and believe in Christ as Lord are forgiven and given what? A forever relationship with God!

This key of REPENTANCE involves truly turning our lives over to God and His ways, forsaking all to live for Jesus instead of any longer for ourselves.

We MUST REPENT to enter into God’s Kingdom and thereby to be in His forever indescribably awesome fellowship.

We can’t have a relationship with God without REPENTANCE and turning to Christ as Lord.

Once we REPENT and begin a relationship with Him we can’t have except through faith in Christ and a life devoted to Him, we can grow in intimate relationship with Him over time as we read the Bible and are changed by Him as we truly learn to live for Him day by day – and forever!

God’s very Spirit – the Holy Spirit – comes to live inside those who commit their lives to Jesus as Lord. What greater intimacy can there possibly be in the universe than to have a personal relationship with Jesus as His very Spirit lives in and through us now and forever!

LOVE and REPENTANCE – fundamental to intimacy with Christ as Lord forever, AMEN!

Look at the verse above to see what the Lord Jesus Christ Himself preached. REPENTANCE!

Turn, friend, turn from your sins and believe in Christ as Lord, truly committing your life once and for all to God and His ways. To Jesus Christ as LORD and SAVIOR of your life! Live from this moment on for the Lord Jesus Christ! And experience and enjoy intimate fellowship with Christ as LORD forevermore! AMEN!

“But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.” 2 Cor. 9:6-8

“I think you’re thanking the wrong one. It’s God that gives,” a brother in the Lord wrote me after I thanked him for his financial sponsorship of my ministry.

There are three lessons in this, I believe, when it comes to serving the Lord.

1. Giving to a ministry or church or missionary or evangelist etc. is an act of service to the Lord. Oh, how much I wish people would see this more. It hurts my heart how few people give to Walk by Faith Ministry – especially as the Lord continues to grow the ministry and how very greatly in need I am of more financial support for the Lord’s work. But this message isn’t about my ministry. It’s about giving. Giving to the Lord. However the Lord leads us, whenever the Lord leads us, not for us, not from us, but for Him, through His provision.

2. Humility, as my friend demonstrated in his words to me, is fundamental to loving and serving God.

3. My brother in the Lord did something we all must strive to do diligently and daily. Give God the glory! He didn’t applaud himself for giving money to my ministry for the Lord. He recognized he is but a servant and vessel through whom the Lord provides.

Let us be giving and generous, let us be humble, and let us give glory to the Lord!

Recently I’ve been considering the price I’m paying for giving up a typical American lifestyle to be on the road for Jesus full-time with my beloved special needs doggies doing streets ministry and writing and publishing Gospel tracts, devotionals, and books. I’m living a life I never fathomed living. Never dreamed of living. Never would have chosen. It’s beautiful. It’s amazing. It’s rich. It’s vibrant. It’s awesome. It’s incredible. It’s exciting. It’s rewarding. And, quite frankly, it is sometimes so exceedingly challenging I can’t imagine pressing on at times.

But I wouldn’t go back for anything in the world. For nothing in this life compares with the love and joy and privilege of being in Christ’s forever presence through faith in Him and a life devoted utterly to Him – and to the indescribably phenomenal blessing of spending my life loving and worshiping Him and helping others to find and forever follow Him.

That said, I am in a season of extreme exhaustion and extreme challenge in many ways. I would be blessed beyond measure if you would please pray your hearts out as the Lord leads you. And as I press on in the Lord’s work for the glory of God almighty, yes!

In His love,
