Let This Go

Let This Go

The Lord spoke to my heart to get rid of a whole bunch of words I had written some time ago. I had truly believed the message was from Him. I liked the sound of it. I liked how it came together. I liked that it was the preface to the book I had begun working on. I was bound and determined to publish the book with the opening as well as with the title I had sensed He had given the book. Until the Holy Spirit some time later made clear I was not in His will and needed to erase all the words. Get rid of them. Delete them. In plain English, let them go.

But Lord. But God. But please. But don’t you think? But don’t you see? But I don’t understand! But Lord you don’t understand. But I can’t let this go. But this is good. But I need to show you why my idea is better. I could have started with all the arguments. All the debating. Reasoning. Resisting. Rebelling. Pride, pride, pride and all its accompanying other sins. I have a long history of all of it.

Wouldn’t you know I had just written a devotional on forsaking all for Christ. I knew what I needed to do. LET THIS GO. Ouch. Loss. Okay, they were only words. But passionate long-time writers who were born to write don’t exactly love letting words go not especially when they in their pride think they know better than the Lord. I did what I needed to do. I humbled myself and deleted the words. I LET THIS GO.

Some of us perhaps even most of us if not all of us at one time or another or even lots of the time have some deleting to do in our lives. Maybe even you. Maybe even right now. Some getting rid of. Some forsaking. Some letting go. And some serious humbling ourselves to do. You included? Is the Lord speaking through this message to you?

We need to acknowledge that JESUS CHRIST IS LORD and live our lives accordingly including when the Lord makes clear there is something and/or someone He wants us to let go.

When the Lord tells us LET THIS GO, let us remember who He is. Lord. Let us remember who we are. Nothing without Him. Let us humble ourselves before Him and say, yes Lord, yes.

LET THIS GO. Whatever it is, friend, if He is calling you to LET THIS GO, for Christ’s sake, LET THIS GO. He will give you the ability. He will give you the strength. Let go!

Oh Father, God, THANK YOU for your longsuffering. We think it’s hard to be patient with others, and I can’t even fathom what it’s like for you to be patient, longsuffering with all of humanity. You are amazing. You are awesome. You are so loving, so merciful, so powerful, oh help us Lord to hear your voice speaking to our hearts always in line with your Word, help us to know when to LET THIS GO, and precious God, help us to LET THIS GO because it’s just too hard and painful and scary and whatever else to LET THIS GO on our own. We need you to help us LET THIS GO. So help us God, AMEN!
