“This life isn’t about pleasing me,” I essentially told a sweet younger sister in the Lord. “This life is about pleasing Jesus.” Almost immediately I sensed I needed to write this message. So here I am.
Truth? I lived and breathed for decades to please myself – even once I came to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. But God taught me the truth and led me to repentance. His followers are to live for Him not self.
The Bible says times would come in which people would love pleasure more than they love God, would be lovers of self, and would be lovers of money. Seems we are in those times right now. And seems the world’s wickedness is worsening. But Jesus’ followers aren’t to follow the world. We’re to follow Jesus. Jesus lived on this earth to love and please our Father in heaven. We are to do the same. But are we? Or, are we living to please self?
Please examine your heart and life, friend. Whom are you living to please? You? Or, Jesus? Let us live for the Lord, let us live for the Lord, oh yes! Where do you stand, friend? Do you live to love and please self? Or to love and please God and to love others in His name? Need to make any changes?
Oh, Father, forgive our wickedness! Forgive our pride! Forgive us for all the time we have lived for self instead of for you. Forgive us chasing pleasure instead of chasing after you and your will for us. Teach us to love and please you, oh Lord. Teach us to obey you. Teach us to love you with ALL our hearts. Oh, God we need you! We need your love and mercy! We need your strength, oh Lord, to say no to the temptation of living for ourselves. And the strength to say no to living like the world teaches us to live. Teach us your Word. Fill those of us who believe in you oh Lord with your Holy Spirit and empower us to follow you, dear God! Oh, help us Lord! Have mercy, dear Father, AMEN! Oh, God, when we profess to believe in you, when we profess to love you, oh Lord, let us please you, dear Father! Help us to deny self and live utterly for you, dear Father! Oh yes! AMEN!
“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” 2 Timothy 3:1-5 KJV
“And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.” 2 Corinthians 5:15 KJV
