My PB & J Sandwich

0

Early one morning I hadn’t had my oftentimes middle-of-the-night snack and felt hungry and started fixing myself my usual once or twice-a-day peanut butter and jelly sandwich. All of a sudden I felt an enormous need to express my thanksgiving to the Lord and to write this message. All of this related to a simple peanut butter and jelly sandwich? Oh yes!

Maybe you don’t love pb & j sandwiches. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE them! To me they are a deliciously yummy blessing particularly because the Lord delivered me from a decades-long eating disorder whereby fully enjoying food without guilt and allowing myself to eat enough each day given my background of anorexia is miraculous. Thanksgiving? Yes! Because of God’s provision for food each day, His rescuing me from the eating disorder, my ability to afford food when many don’t have any, the deliciousness of being able to eat a favorite meal, my ability to eat and digest given some health issues I have had, my being given a new day of life to love, worship, and glorify Him and to tell the world about Him and to eat another pb & j sandwich, and on and on my blessings go.

Maybe a pb & j sandwich doesn’t seem worth praising God about to some. But truth is we should be thankful for every single blessing the Lord bestows upon us whether tiny or enormous or anywhere in between.

How much of the time do you suppose we neglect to be thankful to the Lord? Do we take for granted God’s endless blessings most of all Jesus’ death and resurrection and our ability to have a forever relationship with the Lord through repentance, faith in Him and in His death and resurrection and our lives being fully devoted to Him?

May my pb & jelly message be a reminder to us all to THANK AND PRAISE THE LORD in our hearts, with our mouths, and to express to Him our thanksgiving in our actions, hallelujah, AMEN!

Let us not merely SAY we LOVE the Lord! Let us LIVE for the Lord! And let us continually THANK and PRAISE, PRAISE, PRAISE AND THANK THE LORD! Hallelujah!

Oh, Father, thank you, thank you, how could I ever tell you thank you enough for all your greatness and goodness and wonderfulness and glory and splendor and blessings even right down to the pb & j sandwich I have been eating as I write this? Forever will still not be enough, will it, oh Lord, for your children to THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU oh praise you oh Lord amen! Father, I’m sorry I feel I need to even ask this, but would you please remind us to express our praise and thanksgiving to you when we are neglecting to do so? Thank you for your love and patience with us and for teaching us your ways including very much especially when it comes to bringing you praise, glory, and honor, oh Lord, AMEN!
