This Man is Going to Hell

“The fool has said in his heart,

“There is no God.”

They are corrupt,

They have done abominable works,

There is none who does good.

The Lord looks down from heaven upon the children of men,

To see if there are any who understand, who seek God.

They have all turned aside,

They have together become corrupt;

There is none who does good,

No, not one.” Psalm 14:1-3………..

“that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9………….

“and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.” 2 Cor. 5:15……………..

I know a man who is going to hell. Hell and the lake of fire to be perfectly precise. Fiery torment forever apart from God to describe in detail his future. Now perhaps you’re wondering what horrible, heinous, wretched acts of evil and wickedness the man has committed, how indescribably awful and horrific and scary looking he is, and how mean and nasty and abusive and horrid he acts. Because obviously there must be something totally extreme in the way of sin about him that makes him different from the rest of us, right? That makes him headed for hell when we can pretty much count on the fact most of the rest of us are worthy and deserving and are good enough and measure up enough and have done enough good in our lives such that we are headed for heaven instead, right?……………………..

To be perfectly frank, I know very few details of the story of the man who is headed for hell. I know little of what he’s said and done and not said and not done in life. I know he doesn’t look like a scary monster. In fact, he’s rather frail, mild mannered, usually kind, and rather soft spoken. Ordinarily nice and polite. He has issues just like we all do, but there’s nothing outstanding about him in the least. So why is he headed for hell unless something changes? What’s so awful about him that he’s headed for hell, and what’s so good about so many of the rest of us that we’re headed for heaven instead, or that we think we are anyway?

This message is NOT about the man who is headed for hell. It’s about YOU and ME and ALL OF US. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US is a sinner against God, EVERY ONE OF US deserves and will spend forever in hell and the lake of fire because we can’t as sinners be in God’s perfect glorious holy presence either on earth or in heaven, and NONE OF US is good enough or will ever be good enough and can ever measure up enough to receive God’s love, forgiveness, and a forever relationship with Him instead of hell with ONE EXCEPTION.

Why is the man I have written about going to hell unless something changes? Because the ONLY WAY to a forever relationship with God instead of hell and the lake of fire is THROUGH THE LORD JESUS CHRIST who is the Son of God who came to earth to live a perfect life and who died on the cross to bear God’s wrath at us and the punishment for our sins on Himself so all who repent and believe in Him as Lord and believe this Gospel message, genuinely committing their lives to Him and living henceforth for Christ according to God’s ways is forgiven and given eternal life.

The man I described is no different than the rest of us. We are ALL HEADED FOR HELL without Christ as Lord. NONE OF US is worthy of God and ALL OF US need to repent and submit to Christ’s lordship to have an everlasting relationship with God.

How quick we are to point the finger at others as though their hearts and lives are worse than ours. How quick we are to say so-and-so deserves hell and we deserve God and heaven. How prideful we are to think any of us is good enough for God. NO HUMAN BEING is good enough for God!

The man I have written about is headed for hell unless he repents and gives his life utterly to the Lord Jesus Christ.

My friend, the exact same is true for YOU, for ME, and for ALL OF US. We will all be tormented in hell forever unless we repent and give our lives utterly to Christ. This is not about a one-time crying out to God, a one-time prayer, a one-time experience, etc., or about going to church, putting up a Christmas tree, calling oneself a Christian, wearing a cross, etc. This is about a sincere, genuine, true turning away from sin and the world’s ways and standards and turning to God to live to love and worship and glorify Him forever!

Please examine your heart. Examine your life. Believing in Christ as Lord is about believing in Him as Lord, following Him as Lord, and living for Him as Lord. This is a WAY OF LIFE. Is this the way of life you’re living? Are you living for the Lord Jesus Christ?

Where are you headed?
