When Pride Prevents Thanksgiving
When we’re proud in our hearts, our words, and our actions, all of which is sin, we pat ourselves on the back and magnify ourselves and take the glory for the good in our lives. We think, say, and act like it’s our hard work, it’s our accomplishments, it’s our resumes, it’s our connections, it’s our provision, etc. that results in the good in our lives. Instead of thanking God for His love, His goodness, His greatness, His provision, His resources, His connecting us to different people, programs, etc., we take all the credit ourselves. So instead of being thankful to God, we puff ourselves up in our own minds and glorify ourselves in the ears and sight of others rather than praising the Lord and thanking Him!
The quick and necessary fix concerning pride is repentance, humbling ourselves, and exalting and glorifying – and thanking – God. Have some repenting and humbling yourself to do?
“Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.” Proverbs 16:5 KJV
