Most Important Part of Ministry

0

Ministry is service to God, and we are all called to serve God in one way or another to one degree or another as the Lord leads us. I am called to be on the road full-time for the Lord and ministry making myself available to Him 24-7, others are called into full-time ministry with set hours for example 40 a week, others are called to missions trips a few times yearly, others are called to serve the Lord teaching Sunday school, etc. It is all ministry when it is serving God according to His will for us. I have learned much about ministry through the years most importantly this.

Spending time alone in the presence of the Lord and looking to Him and to His Word is the absolute most critical part of LOVING AND SERVING GOD. Our personal relationship with God needs to be our highest priority. Time alone with Him daily loving Him, praising and worshiping Him, honoring Him, enjoying Him, reading His Word, hearing His Spirit who dwells in His followers speak to us in line with His Word, seeking Him, praying to Him, listening for His voice, waiting on Him, being changed by Him, being conformed to Him, learning from Him, receiving wisdom and directions and discernment from Him, being encouraged and comforted by Him, being strengthened by Him, all of these aspects of intimate relationship with Christ MUST COME FIRST.

Our relationship with Him and loving Him needs to be a higher priority than serving Him. And serving Him is to be an expression of our love for and obedience to Him and should result from intimate relationship with Him as Lord, Savior, master, and leader of our lives and ministry work for Him.

When I started out in ministry work years ago, I made a dangerous error and looked to the churches and ministries to learn how to do ministry work. The Lord chastened me and led me to repentance. See, many of today’s modern day churches and ministries are working based on worldly business models, techniques, plans, and ploys rather than being led by God’s Spirit in line with God’s Word. The Lord taught me to spend time in His presence and in His Word every day in time set apart with Him AND throughout the day and night. Continually seeking, hearing, and following Him not following the world nor following churches and ministries following the world. Ministry is to about, through, and for CHRIST!

Who is the greatest role model in the universe? Jesus! What did Jesus do in His ministry work on this earth? Always, always, always, He spent time alone with our Father in heaven and looked to Him for everything He needed to serve Him. This included intimate relationship with the Father, time alone with God, study and application and preaching of scriptures. Right down to the very words He spoke, to His will in all things, to His timing, to absolutely everything for the glory of the Lord, Jesus looked to and spent time with God almighty! Even when He was in the middle of ministering to people, He looked to the Father. And where did it all begin? With Jesus being FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD!

Jesus is God. Jesus is Lord. Jesus is the Father. Our Father in heaven manifests Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. When Jesus was on earth, He came as God in the flesh and modeled to us the perfect and right way to do life and ministry. His ministry began with His being filled with the Holy Spirit of God just as we need to be filled with the Holy Spirit of God for life and ministry!

When He left, He made it clear WE WHO FOLLOW JESUS ARE TO RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT WHO COMES TO LIVE INSIDE ALL HIS FOLLOWERS WHEN WE RECEIVE CHRIST AS LORD. But there is also a baptism of, or gift of, the Holy Spirit some receive right away when they receive Christ as Lord and others receive further down the road. This gift we can ask for if we have not yet received it. This baptism, or gift, is essentially being filled with the power of the Holy Spirit for the purpose of going out into the world and sharing the Gospel message and ministering to people.

Let us love and serve the Lord with all our hearts as we are called to do, let us ask for and receive the gift of God’s Holy Spirit if we have not already, let us ask for fresh fillings of the Holy Spirit as we press on following the Lord and in our loving service to Him, and let our personal relationship with Christ be number one in life and in ministry. AMEN!

Father, THANK YOU for teaching me this. I am so sorry I got into ministry work and did things wrongly at the start. Thank you for your correction. Thank you for using me now to encourage others to do ministry the right way. Looking to you, loving you, being in your presence, letting you lead the way. Please teach us all how to love and serve you in a way honoring and glorifying to you, oh Lord, AMEN!

p.s. Lord, there is a lot of lack of understanding or wrong teaching about your Holy Spirit. Please Lord help people reading this to take the time to study in the Bible the Holy Spirit and lead them to ask for the gift of your Holy Spirit for ministry if they have not already done so. And for all of us who have received this amazing gift, please remind us to ask for a fresh filling of your Spirit over and again as we go forth in life and ministry for you! Amen, amen, AMEN!
